Il 9 settembre compare questa intervista a Starks:

NYKnicks.com: Some new players were brought in for this season, including Chris Duhon and Danilo Gallinari. What are your thoughts on both of them?

Starks: I think they are going to inject some new life into The Garden. Obviously Duhon is a bright, intelligent player. He came out of a great system at Duke, and then he played for Scott Skiles in Chicago, so he’s a very disciplined player. I’d look for him to do very well in D’Antoni’s system. He’s a good pick-and-roll player, he understands the game and can knock down shots.

NYKnicks.com: And Gallinari?

Starks: Well Gallinari, you really don’t know enough about him. Obviously, the one Summer League game that he had was a pretty good one, especially in the second half. He seems like he’s a young man who is not afraid and won’t back down, and that’s a good thing. A lot of European players it takes some time to adjust and jump right in. They lack that aggressiveness, but I think he has the makeup and aggressiveness to do just that.

"The sixth-overall selection in the 2008 Draft, Gallinari showed a glimpse of his potential in the Vegas Summer League - the ability to run the floor, a very smooth outside shot, and the strength to finish in traffic. Unfortunately, it was a very brief glimpse - back problems ended his summer before the buzzer sounded in the Knicks' first game. Long-term, Gallinari could emerge as a really interesting combo forward and complement to Wilson Chandler. But considering his age (20), inexperience and the Knicks' glut of forwards, it's hard to imagine he'll contribute much as a rookie."

La schiena del Gallo migliora ma non parteciperà ugualmente ai prossimi tornei estivi.L'obiettivo è quello di farlo arrivare al 100% al primo impegno stagionale.
Pare inoltre che non ci siano programmi per cacciare Starbury.

boh...se a 20 anni ci metti 5 mesi per riprenderti da un mal di schiena iniziano a emergere un po' di punti di domanda sulla tua tenuta fisica....poi boh...ma sta cosa è comunque inquietante....

Gallinari è un'altra eurofighetta soft, injury prone, ha paura delle botte etc.

Ma comunque senza vederci del marcio dove non ci sta, anche a me sta situazione pare un po' paradossale e per certi versi losca.
Neanche le mondine dopo 30 anni di raccolta del riso hanno dei tempi di recupero così lunghi.
