Gordon (knee) will be out for at least another three weeks, Marc Spears reports.
Spin: Gordon's knee is reportedly structurally sound, but it doesn't sound like he's close to returning to the court.
Mon Jan 23
(espn)

What's puzzling is that Monty basically has a starting lineup similar to last season. Of course, CP and West are gone, but Jack and Landry were on the team and so they're familiar with Monty's offense. You need to ask why does the offense break down so rapidly to the point where players are having to create a basket in isolation? I'm not so sure the problem is always Jack. For me, it's kind of telling that Monty seems to evaluate his players by how many points they produce in his post-game comments. If there is no direction coming from the coach, which seems to be the case, then players are going to look for their own shot.
It's a bad situation for Marco because he happens to play better within a team-oriented offense rather than try to play street ball, which is basically what he is doing this season.

I state beforehand that I'm not a Monty's fan at all but the lack of talent in this team, except for Gordon, is pretty embarrassing, it's hardly impossible to do better than this if your name is not Greg Popovich.
I smiled a bit when I read that you’re somehow bewildered by Noh offense breaking down so swiftly, I think it was just a matter of time since you lost the best point guard in the game, well I prefer Deron but this is just my orientation, and David West, not the best PF of course, but certainly an reliable scorer who had a great chemistry with CP3.
My point being, you can’t lose one of the best player in the game and pretend that nothing happened, it’s absurd, especially if you’ve got Jack in your team who is probably the most selfish player in the league or prolly the second one considering that I’ve just remembered Baylees
.
It's nevertheless true that Noh hasn’t shown any spark of life in the previous games, that’s worrisome, and I put the blame on Monty as well for the regression of players like Belinelli or Landry, in this case I totally agree with you.
What a like about Marco’s game this year is his new attitude at cleaning up the boards, which is unusual for him, but we all know that he’s not here for this reason, he’s a shooter, a streaky one perhaps, but he will always be that and with this system I’m afraid he’s forgetting what he has always done best. I’d really like to see him more involved in the offensive maneuver, he’s got some nice passing skills, I reckon Turiaf would confirm.
I don’t like Landry’s regression either, he was one my favorite 6th man back in the time when he played for Houston. He was an explosive and efficient scorer off the bench and most important a team player, now he’s just someone who’s trying to rack up some points to adjust his stats.
I also believe that this is not the real Kaman, he should work on his conditioning very hard, he has a soft touch, a decent low post game and good rebounding skills, he good easily end up averaging a double-double over here, it’s all about getting in shape soon, right now he looks like a retiree playing basketball at the playground with some friends.
I don’t wanna be pessimistic, but nothing is gonna change this year for Noh and I’ve got the odd feeling that Marco’s experience overseas might be over at the end of this year, which he’s not a bad thing, I’d love to see him playing in a top European team, like Siena, playing for real and competing for the Euroleague trophy, not tanking to get a better pick at the next draft.

Re: Stagione 2011/2012 di Marco Belinelli: cap. V
Palerio,
I do think the season is already lost for the Hornets. Even if Gordon did come back for the second half of the season, I think the reason the Hornets are losing isn't so much because of the loss of CP or West, but because of Monty's poor play-calling and inability to get his players to gel together as a team. He's got it right defensively, but has failed miserably in reining in Jack's selfishness and getting this team to play together on the offensive end.
I love what the 76ers are doing, and probably the Nuggets too (though I haven't watched them this season). They're winning in spite of the fact that neither team has a star player. Because of good coaching, that doesn't become a necessity. When you compare this season to last, it would seem Monty's success depended alot on CP and West (and Mike Malone as his assistant) instead.
[quote:3s67egtv]I’d really like to see him more involved in the offensive maneuver, he’s got some nice passing skills, I reckon Turiaf would confirm.[/quote:3s67egtv] I think Biedrins and Amir Johnson would as well...
I agree with most everything you say except for the last part. I hope Belinelli finds a way to stay in the NBA. I don't want to lose him.
